Advantages of Refurbished Off-Lease Computers
Let’s face it, there are plenty of inexpensive new computers out there, but they are cheap for a reason (or actually several reasons). Low-priced new computers, desktop CPU’s and laptops, are sloppily engineered and constructed, using cheap materials and inferior quality components, and are typically equipped with slower low-cost processors. Sadly, most manufacturers are guilty of participating in this “race to the bottom”, some brands more than others.
Some manufacturers, however, specialize in building computer hardware for the corporate world, with better engineering and construction, using better quality materials and components, resulting in computers with superior performance, durability and reliability. Dell’s Optiplex line of desktop CPU’s and Latitude series of laptops are good examples of computer hardware that are engineered for corporate use, meaning they perform well and are rugged and reliable. Unfortunately, these models are generally more expensive when purchased new than many built for the regular consumer market.
Happily, there is a way to get almost new Dell Optiplex desktop CPU’s and Latitude laptops for much less than they would cost new by purchasing refurbished “off-lease” computers. As the name implies, refurbished corporate “off-lease” computers were originally leased by a corporation or other institution, and then refurbished by the manufacturer after the end of the lease period. This is a great way to get a computer that is well made, fast, durable and reliable for a price that is sometimes half what a new one would cost.
